Nipah Virus is becoming the headlines everywhere because of its death toll is on a rise and people don’t know what exactly the virus is. Nipah virus (NiV) infection is a newly emerging zoonosis that causes severe disease in both animals and humans. For Nipah virus, there is no vaccine yet available, says the World Health Organisation. If not taken care of, these symptoms can even cause a coma in a span of 24-48 hours. The infection can cause severe complications in humans, and can also affect certain animals, like pigs.
Two people suspected to be infected with the brain-damaging Nipah virus are under treatment in Karnataka, a health official said. The rare virus has killed at least 11 people ,including a nurse who left a heartbreaking note to her family, in Kerala.
